In Giving We Grow
Teach kids to care about others and they will do a better job caring for themselves. Each month the teen club will work on one charity event and participants will receive certificates for their volunteer hours. The kids will come up with ideas for recipients and types of fundraising. They will then learn the principals of management by learning the planning, implementing and overseeing of the event, all with the guidance of professional adult volunteers.
Let's Go Out Together
Occasionally, the group will go to the movies, bowling, or ice skating (permission slips will be sent home the week prior). The kids may come with other ideas so stay tuned. We may bring a party to them and turn the club into a teen dance - what's important is that they are part of the decision process and are safely having fun together.
The Kid Fit Club
Our goal is to create a healthy safe haven for kids to be kids. We are committed to getting kids active and establishing healthy habits so that they know how to make healthy choices. As teens, it is often difficult to find a place to congregate without causing a commotion. TKFC will give teens a chance to hang out with their friends, have fun, burn some energy all while learning to give back to their community and gain confidence in who they are. We know the friendships made at summer camp will last a lifetime. The camaraderie created when kids can play freely is comfortable, easy going, supportive and authentic. We want our kids to experience this type of friendship year round. So we are bringing everyone together and throwing in a splash of wellness along the way!
We Are The Future!
Kids Fit is beyond excited to reveal the growth of our Hydroponic Aeroponic Tower Garden!
It is well on its way, the teen kids have been growing and tending to this environmentally friendly self serving plant garden.
Hydroponics is a new aged way of growing plants without soil, using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent.
Following in NASA's foot steps, using a tower garden you can grow up to 30% more healthy food, 3x Faster. Using aeroponics without any soil at all! everything gets reused.
Our end game?
This is just the start! The Kids Fit Club was apart of a pilot test to see how well we could handle growing our own full garden! The project was successful, as well as educational and fun. We are thrilled with the delicious results. Our next step is creating and building our very own green house on campus to introduce local kids and family's to the benefits of sustainable living this summer ! Stay tuned..
Raised in Middletown NJ, Samantha attended Red Bank Catholic High School. After traveling to Honduras on a service trip post Hurricane Mitch, she was shocked to witness firsthand how stable families and communities could fall into poverty as a result of a disaster. Feeling inspired, Samantha became an award-winning humanitarian by age 17, raising thousands of dollars for Students Helping Honduras and speaking to over 600 high school students, empowering them to join her mission. She followed her dreams by attending Fordham University, graduating with degrees in Political Science, Anthropology and Humanitarian Studies. Upon graduation, Samantha was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to travel as a cultural ambassador to Indonesia on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. She has worked with over 3,000 high school and university students around the world, specializing in youth empowerment, leadership presentations, and student led service projects. Samantha has traveled to 23 developing countries and will continue promoting ethical approaches to volunteer work while empowering vulnerable children in escaping the cycle of poverty. Samantha is currently working on a book and guest lecturing at high schools and universities in the Tri-State Area.
