We Are The Future!
Kids Fit is beyond excited to reveal the growth of our Hydroponic Aeroponic Tower Garden!
It is well on its way, the teen kids have been growing and tending to this environmentally friendly self serving plant garden.
Hydroponics is a new aged way of growing plants without soil, using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent.
Following in NASA's foot steps, using a tower garden you can grow up to 30% more healthy food, 3x Faster. Using aeroponics without any soil at all! everything gets reused.
Our end game?
This is just the start! The Kids Fit Club was apart of a pilot test to see how well we could handle growing our own full garden! The project was successful, as well as educational and fun. We are thrilled with the delicious results. Our next step is creating and building our very own green house on campus to introduce local kids and family's to the benefits of sustainable living this summer ! Stay tuned..
Samantha Slattery
Raised in Middletown NJ, Samantha attended Red Bank Catholic High School. After traveling to Honduras on a service trip post Hurricane Mitch, she was shocked to witness firsthand how stable families and communities could fall into poverty as a result of a disaster. Feeling inspired, Samantha became an award-winning humanitarian by age 17, raising thousands of dollars for Students Helping Honduras and speaking to over 600 high school students, empowering them to join her mission. She followed her dreams by attending Fordham University, graduating with degrees in Political Science, Anthropology and Humanitarian Studies. Upon graduation, Samantha was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to travel as a cultural ambassador to Indonesia on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. She has worked with over 3,000 high school and university students around the world, specializing in youth empowerment, leadership presentations, and student led service projects. Samantha has traveled to 23 developing countries and will continue promoting ethical approaches to volunteer work while empowering vulnerable children in escaping the cycle of poverty. Samantha is currently working on a book and guest lecturing at high schools and universities in the Tri-State Area.
